Women wait longer to get care after heart attack symptoms

[WCCO Radio, December 19, 2018] Women who are experiencing symptoms of a heart attack wait longer to call for assistance than men do according to a new study. According to the study author, this may be because women do not always experience the “typical” symptoms of a heart attack and, thus, do not realize that they are having one. Allina Health cardiologist, Dr. Nick Burke, at the Minneapolis Heart Institute talked with WCCO Radio about what this study means.
