[KARE 11, February 13, 2018] While Americans are actually getting more z's a night—a whopping 18 minutes, but a one-third of seniors say they have to take a sleep aid in order to fall asleep. But do the rewards of sleep aids outweigh the risks?

Dr. Daniel Kessler, a sleep specialist at Allina Health, talked with KARE 11 News to discuss why sleep medication of any kind (prescription, over-the-counter or supplemental) can be bad for our health as we age, and what we can do instead to get a better night’s sleep.
