A new vaccine for shingles

[KARE 11, December 05, 2015] If you’ve ever had or known someone who’s had shingles, you know it’s nothing you or they ever want to experience again.

Unfortunately the painful rash, which is caused by the same virus that causes chickenpox, will affect nearly 1 in 3 people in their lifetime.

The good news, is that a new vaccine promises greater protection.

Dr. Frank Rhame, an infectious disease specialist with Allina Health Clinics, appeared on KARE-TV to discuss what makes this vaccine different, who should get it, and who’s most at risk for developing shingles.
