Angelina Jolie Undergoes Further Preventive Surgery

[KSTP TV, March 29, 2015] Oscar-winning actress Angelina Jolie revealed last week that she has undergone more preventive surgery, having her ovaries and fallopian tubes removed in hopes of reducing her risk of cancer.

Writing in The New York Times, the filmmaker and philanthropist said a recent blood test showed a possible early sign of cancer. The news was a blow to the star who had already had a double mastectomy.

Dr. Michaela Tsai, a breast cancer researcher and hematologist and oncologist with the Virginia Piper Cancer Institute at Abbott Northwestern, was a guest on KSTP-TV and explained why she had been waiting for Jolie to make her latest announcement.
