[WCCO-TV, April 26, 2014]   Thousands of Minnesota and Wisconsin kids are a little happier today thanks to the New Shoes, Healthy Kids initiative from Allina Health. The shoes were distributed Saturday, April 26, at 30 Allina Health locations to kids from area families in need.

[Sun Thisweek, April 10, 2014]   The Dakota County Board of Commissioners presented Public Health Achievement Awards to four recipients at its meeting Tuesday, April 9, as part of National Public Health Week. “ A Healthier Hastings 4 All ” community collaborative sponsored by Regina Medical Center: Laura Sweere and Natalie Hamley, students at Lakeville North High School; and Joe McCarthy, physical education teacher at Meadowview Elementary School in Farmington were recognized for their efforts to build and sustain healthy families and communities in Dakota County.

[KMSP Fox 9 & KARE 11, April 08, 2014]   Research at the University of Louisville is being heralded as a breakthrough that is bringing hope for patients who suffered spinal cord injuries that cause paralysis because a device is helping them move again. Although the device is still very much in the experimental phase and no one has used the word cure just yet, at the Courage Kenny Rehabilitation Institute in Golden Valley, part of Allina Health, many patients see it as a potential life-changer.

Yet some important issues that are not adequately addressed with the current health care overhaul include decreased patient and physician satisfaction, reduced access to care, and the increasing cost of care.
